Question asked of me while I was making N's lunch for today: "When did you order that smoker?"
"That smoker" would be the Christmas / Birthday / Anniversary present that I promised W I would give him. "That Smoker" has yet be ordered.
I promised him I would order it today. Have I? Not yet. Instead, I made a deposit at the bank, and picked up the mail at the post office located at the lovely outdoor mall and had an "aha" moment.
I had ordered what I thought was two sets of four glasses of Reidel Sommeliers Cabernet for Christmas, only to see when W opened his first box that there was only one wineglass in it. One. I was simultaneously embarrassed and relieved because the glasses are obscenely large.
So, as I picked up the mail, I realized that two doors down was a Williams Sonoma store. I dashed in there, found precisely what I wanted. I picked up eight glasses, had them wrapped, and also bought a lovely, small, decanter. We have two crystal decanters already, but, honestly, they are not practical for everyday use. I had bought one of these same small decanters already, but I broke it in the transition from the old kitchen to the new kitchen.
Normally, W blows me away with presents for major holidays. We typically do not observe or celebrate Valentine's Day in any traditional ways. It was a good excuse for me to try to make it up to him.
Now, off to order "That Smoker."

that is one HOT smoker.
There is no such thing as a wine glass that is too big.
Just found your blog.
Don't worry, my husband grew up in Colorado and is also a transplant. After 25 years here, he now even talks like us Okies. Though we do go back to Colorado every summer to get our (his) fix.
