Feet, Toes & Calves. Oh My!
Happy feet, happy toes and happy calves, that is. So much happier since I finally made the effort to leave the office at lunchtime and buy new running shoes. Shoes that were long overdue. Overdue by about 1,000 miles. You read that right. I had been running in shoes that I wore when I finished (note: I did not state "run") the Napa Valley Marathon last March. The shoes had over 1,400 miles on them. Shoes are supposed to be replaced every 400-500 miles.
I had noticed a problem over the past few weeks. My calves hurt. I had ripped a hole in the side of the right shoe. The sole was slick as it had lost some of its traction. My arches started to hurt. Then the kicker is when my toes started to bleed. Not a good sign, no?
Now that I have one pair, I think I better buy another pair to have on hand. I know better than to wear such old and worn shoes. But my lack of action is only attributable to my laziness.
That same laziness is now responsible for about five extra pounds. Good thing I now have new shoes to run away from that.

Ack! I can't believe you ran so far in your shoes!
I usually replace my Asics before 250!
What 5 extra pounds?
Ouch! Glad to hear you got new shoes, I know how much you love to run and it must have been miserable.
The nice boy at the running store wrote the date I bought mine on the heel in sharpie, wasn't that sweet? :)
I'm with Aimee...what 5 extra pounds?
I need some new shoes desperately, so it's on my list to hit the good running shoe store in the next week or so. It really does make a difference!
