The Anticipation
Do you remember shopping for new fall / winter school clothes in August amidst 90 degree heat? Do you remember the relief of being indoors, the cool of air conditioning in the mall, the sweet perfume of Orange Julius and hot soft pretzels, the static electric-frizzed hair, the bittersweet anticipation of having to wait at least 4-6 weeks until the weather was cool enough to justify the new sweater or pair of boots?
Over the past four weeks, I shopped at Ann Taylor no less than twice, scoring serious deals (20% off at the register on top of deeply discounted clothes) on over seven pairs of lined career trousers. Unfortunately, every pair had to be hemmed, requiring a trip to the tailor, whose work hours are not conducive to frequent use by me. However, the tailor had to wait until I had also purchased new shoes for the new trousers.
Last week, J had a slight fever induced by new teeth poking through her gums, so I snatched the opportunity to take my new shoes and trousers to the tailor. W retrieved them on Saturday.
Today, I am wearing new trousers, new top and new shoes. Finally. After waiting at least four weeks. Fortunately, they (the trousers) still fit. I have bought one size smaller than I have ever purchased in my life and have been wary of the return of the weight since I stopped pumping. Thankfully, I have kept that weight gain to about 3 lb, enabling me to still wear the new pants.
Check out the fab new shoes. Adorable, no?

Nice shoes! Damn I need to con the man into road-tripping to Syracuse (the nearest Ann Taylor to us...)
Shoes! Love! Them!
I seriously need pants too. I went out a few weeks ago and managed to find two pairs, and am still stubbornly clinging to a few pairs in my closet.
Very, very cute.
And you know what I just noticed? We have the same carpet in our offices too.
Love the shoes! If only my feet were that dainty!
Those are adorable... and I am with Gretchen... my feet would look like boats! ;)
