    You Decide

I cannot decide if this good or bad or a mixture of both. Most likely the last.

This morning at 6:15 a.m., I was running on the treadmill in the basement, had the baby monitor with me. I saw it spike with red lights, but calm down a few times, then it was dark. I simply assumed (yes, I know what assuming means) that J had fussed herself back to sleep. So, I continue running and finish my workout.

I think proceed upstairs, grab a baby bottle of milk, then head up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Still no lights on the monitor. As I reach the second floor landing, I notice J's door is open, her light is on and my door is closed. It seems that Nathan had picked her up out of her crib, brought her into my bedroom, took some of J's toys with him to distract her, had her on our bed and was playing with her. She was smiling and he was being silly showing her a balloon he had received at Incredible Pizza yesterday. He had even closed the door the room so that she could not get out and be near the stairs.

I hugged Nathan and told him what a big, responsible older brother he was. And he is.

I am slightly ashamed that all this was happening without my knowledge. But I am also more than slightly proud of my son for taking such great care of his sister.

That is priceless. Nathan is definitely old enough to handle something like that and I am so proud of him for taking the initiative like that. What a big, strong, caring old brother. And as for the monitor spiking, I *totally* would have thought she was fine too.

I agree with Aimee... what a loving, responsible big brother. My heart is warm and fuzzy reading this.

What a great big brother he is!

I bet you will think twice next time you see it spike like that. Next time grab the video camera and head upstairs.

    How sweet is that!?!?!

FWIW - H used to go get L when he was much younger than Ms. J. L was maybe a month or so old. H would go get him from his bed and bring him to me or would take him to H's bed and would talk to him. It was sweet.

As L got older, H would go get him and play with him or would even go get his bottle for him. L didn't mind if it was cool.

Definitely get that on video if he does it again!

I think its great that N is such a caring big brother and knows just what to do to take care of his sister. I must admit I'd have been a little freaked out when I first got up there to see them :) I wouldn't have thought twice about it when she quieted down, I am impressed how quiet N was as well!

I would be very proud, and I would have let the monitor spike go too. What a big boy you have there!

you'd freak if you knew some of the things that took place in our house without our mother's knowledge. ;)

you did nothing wrong. nathan IS responsible, and it's not like you left him to watch her while you ran to the store for a case of beer...
