Hump Day + 1
Some updates from yesterday:
Auditors from SD - found that we owe 4% use tax on over $2 million in supplies / purchase orders + interest = $86,000. Holy freaking cow. This project already faded about $300k in profit and cannot afford to take another hit. The only upside has been that we have all kinds of exposure as it has been on the Corps of Engineers home page for months.
Another fantastic run this morning - 4.5 mi in 37 min. I rocked. Perhaps I am better suited for shorter distances right now? And to let you know - I was solidly in the 9.5-10 min/mi groups for a long long time. I have made speedwork a regular part of my training and it is paying off.
Taking this afternoon off to spend with N. He wants Taco Bueno and then to ride his bike to the park to play. That sounds like fun, but the wind has picked up quite a bit. I hope we can do this.
On to some new things. I feel like I am starting to get caught up at work, aside from the audit stuff, mostly due to the new payroll person I hired about 3 mo ago. She is now doing all the billings and has taken a huge load off of me. With the audit stuff, there is no way I can do day to day routine tasks. And, really, I have been told by W and our VP-Ops that it is not my role to do so. I need to manage. It's just that I am not comfortable managing for some reason. I do not understand it because I had managed a group of 25 men for over a year when I was still under 30. And these were field guys in the natural gas industry. But managing women? Completely different story.
If you had to ship your camera back to the manufacturer for assessment and possible correction, would you do it or would you simply go buy another camera? Cost of like-kind new = $300. So, WWYD?
I am more than ready for spring, as evidenced by wearing cropped pants every single day this week. Today, it is only supposed to be 60 deg, but I am still wearing cropped pants (but not sandals). I think it is having a bra that fits and some cute spring clothes that fit. And last year, I was pregnant, so not looking forward to wearing maternity clothes or warm weather.
