Back to School
Last night was the first class of my twice/week for 6 wks Short Term Financial Management class. Fortunately, I am not the oldest student in the class. There are only eight of us, two men older than I, possibly one my age, four who appear to be full time grad students. Two of the eight are on the MBA track and the other six are in the MS-Finance track. The professor was good, but I was disappointed that he did not interpret the numbers as much as calculate the numbers. For, as he said at the beginning of class, "you are not doing anything financial if you are not making any decisions based on the numbers."
So far, the class itself seems like it will be a good basic class, not too difficult, and therefore a nice way to reintroduce myself to school. I am more jazzed at work today, already thinking of some ratios to start calculating for our companies.
We have a case to present and write-up, a mid term and a final. All complete in 11 more classes.
Son has a school wide concert on Thursday evening, smack dab in the middle of class. Fortunately, his school is one block from the business school building, so I will trek over there during our 20 min break and hope I catch him. It would be the first time I missed something, if I missed it.
The worst day of school is always the first class, so I am glad to have that behind me and am looking forward to learning some things over the next 6 wks.
