    Job Interview

I interviewed the young man I mentioned a few days ago. He still is a very strong candidate, but I worry that I will not have enough to challenge him or that he will grow bored quickly. I invited the VP-Operations to interview or at least meet him. VP was not duly impresseed. Kid has a business degree rather than a construction management degree, so would be on a rather steep learning curve for operations.

I have two other candidates I short-listed and will have HR call and screen, then set up for an interview. I am wishy-washy at this point. I know the young man would do well. At least I think he would.

As part of this, I am looking at tasks I can offload to another person. It is hard to let go of things you owned and took much pride in handling and doing. I need to be able to work on the analytical and developmental parts of my role, though. In order to do that, I must start offloading some of my responsibilities.

    Teeth

I take Son to the dentist this afternoon for his first cavity filling. Fun. I need to get the okay to have an x-ray from my ob because my teeth are in horrible shape. It's tough. I have two crowns that need to be reglued on or replaced, but the dentist will not do it until he can take an x-ray to ensure that the tooth / stump under the crown is okay. But since I am pregnant, no x-rays without the consent of my doc. In the meantime, no gummy bears for me. Even fruit snacks will pull the crowns off. And there is one on either side of my mouth... One on the upper right and one on the lower left.

    Running

Went to sleep at 10 p.m., slept hard, woke up and ran 6 mi. I kicked some tail today. It felt great. I did forego weighted lunges in favor of less difficult un-weighted lunges. Squeezed in weights, too. Son was still to school on time. Perhaps I have reversed the trend of getting to work later and later.

    Sharing Duties

I had a board meeting last night, so husband and son had some good bonding time together. They went to a park, had Sonic for dinner, son had a bath and I came home at 9 p.m. to both boys in their pj's snuggled together in a recliner watching Harry Potter. They both smelled nice. I smile just thinking of it.
