Happy 2009
My family has come and gone and, as usual with things that one obsesses over, it was smoother than expected. There was tension between my parents and my brother, but I resolved that it was between them and not going to ruin my holiday with my family.
Everyone left on Saturday - my parents early, my brother mid-afternoon. Although I would have been happy for everyone to stay longer, it was probably an appropriate length of time. We were able to reorder the house and have a day of rest before returning to work (me) on Monday.
My parents have actually just arrived in California to spend two months. I envy them that - it is so beautiful on the central coast and they have such good friends there. I know they will enjoy it.
As I look back on 2008, I realize the year passed too quickly and that I have much happiness in my life. I know it will continue into 2009.
I do not "do" resolutions. I generally put forth a running challenge for myself and I am pondering a half marathon goal finish of 1:50:00 for this year. Today, I do not feel like putting out a marathon race goal, but I enjoy the half marathon distance. It is challenging without being all-consuming. So there it is - thinking of the OKC Memorial Marathon - running the half marathon race for that weekend. Hopefully Anne and Gretchen will accompany me.
Insofar as other things, well, Jocelyn has to be potty trained before the end of August. I want her to go to a good preschool next fall. Ideally, she would attend N's school, but that requires application and testing. I just cannot see it happening for the fall.
Nathan is great, so I hope he continues to enjoy school and life and have the wonderful sense of humor he had.
Warren is great, too. I hope we can spend more time together and enjoy each other.
