    Weekend Recap

In an effort to follow my own advice, I woke at 5:20 a.m. Saturday to run my 8+ miles before the heat and humidity would force me indoors on the treadmill. It was a nice 68 deg or so, cool-ish. The perfume of the flowers and the birds' songs accompanied my iPod as I ran 8.5 miles. I finished at home with an extra mile on the treadmill, two sets of arms and abs. Good workout!

After a shower and some time with the family, it was off to my son's first indoor soccer game of the season. It is a co-ed U7/8 league - only four teams - and the opposing team was comprised of girls a year older than the boys and at least a foot taller than most of the boys. The boys won, though, 3-1. Whew.

Next we headed to the soccer shop for new cleats for me. Our game was at 7:45 and I was nervous. Anne and I started - nothing like testing the newbies immediately. However, within the first two minutes, Anne had scored on a pass from me. My confidence increased immediately. It was fun and hard and great. I actually scored in the 2nd half and W did a great job as goalie. I guess we are playing next week, too.

I am slightly sore today! My calves hurt. I woke in the middle of the night to stretch them and I think that was a smart move or I would have been in severe pain this morning.
