    Second Floor Utility Room!

Here it is at long last. The top two pictures is the existing basement - half finished / half unfinished. This is clearly the unfinished disgusting, dirty, somewhat dangerous looking side. I lugged dirty clothes up and down two flights of stairs into the dungeon for 5.5 years. Now I do not have to. Ah. Sheer bliss.

The new utility room is outside the master bedroom in what used to be the nursery, then W's closet, then a nursery, then a storage area. We busted through the outer wall and attached it to the new master, tore down the interior wall to the hallway at the top of the existing staircase and created a large hallway and this utility room. It's wonderful. I never knew such happiness. My clothes have never been cleaner.

I never considered clean clothes and accessible washer / dryer to be items of luxury. Well, they are.

Isn't it amazing?! I never knew that would be my favorite thing about our new house when I moved in. I too have appliance envy.

I love the cabinets! That's something I miss from our old house, we had great cabinets in the laundry room plus a closet in there to hang clothes as you were taking them out of the dryer. Now we have cheapo builder-installed wire shelving and a clothes pole and it's just...well, not the same.

    VERY nice!

I still remember when I moved from an apt. without laundry to one with -- how luxurious it felt for YEARS.
