    Language and Wine

I have come across a word three or four times in the last 24 hours, I was not certain of its meaning, even within the context of its usage, so I decided to look it up on Dictionary.com. I am uncertain why I have suddently encountered this word frequently of late. Have you seen it used?

Now on to something more exciting. According to the WSJ Weekend Edition, today is Open That Bottle Night 9, "when all of us, world-wide, finally pop the cork on that bottle we've been saving too long for a special occasion."

Knowing that, use it! Tonight is the night! What will you drink tonight?

Details on Sunday (or Monday, if its a very good wine).

"con·tra·pun·tal"? Is that something Mr. President came up with?

As far a cracking the bottle... Um... Does Southern Comfort count? If so, I'm well on my way!

God, I seriously could use a beer... but I will have teetotalers, former alcoholics and pregnant ladies surrounding me. ;)

We've been holding on to a bottle of Opus One that I received as a gift for my birthday 2 years ago. I came close to opening it after reading your post on Saturday, but I'm having allergy issues right now and couldn't handle drinking that bottle with a stuffed up nose and taste buds that were infected with Afrin aftertaste. Let me know when the next one is on - unless I find an excuse to drink the good stuff before then.
