If you never finished addressing and signing holiday cards, would you abort and consider Valentine's cards for everyone instead? There is still time for me to do this and make the actual date.
Ran 7.5 mi yesterday and it felt great. Should have gone 8 miles, but I thought, what's the difference with 1/2 mile? Today, of course, I wish I had just run 4-5 more minutes.
I am taking today off running. I looked at my log and have run every day since Dec. 12. Of course, I feel like a slug today, but I know my run tomorrow morning will feel easy with a day of rest. It also may explain the lack of my normal excitement towards running.
Mini kid brag - N went to a birthday party yesterday and one of the parents was taking an informal survey regarding each child's current level of Kumon Math. I knew N was in the top 5 or so. I think he is now leading the pack. Of course, I am thrilled, but also saddened because his reading skills do not mirror his math skills. But, as one of the moms said (and she is a teacher), it is only Kindergarten!
I think it may be T-3 weeks until I have a functional utility room on the second level of the house. Currently, the washer / dryer are in the basement. The basement is now gutted and the vent system is in the process of renovation. It's a mess. I grabbed a load of laundry Saturday morning, plunged myself down the stairs into the great unknown, only to find the dryer moved to the other side of the room and not installed. Well, W moved the dryer on Sunday morning. So I head back down Sunday afternoon, then loose a few choice words when I discover the 1/4 inch of dirt on top of the washer. I suck it up and decide I have no choice, so I try to turn the machine on. Water is turned off. I turn the water on, then see the dirt inside the machine. I decide to do a run with a few rags and use them to clean it all. It worked and my machine is cleaner than it has been in a long time. But, gosh, that forced me stay awake until 11 p.m. folding laundry because I know the HVAC guys are there today. Who knows what mess they will make?
So that leads me to a major vent. Why oh why can subcontractors not PICK UPAFTER THEMSELVES???? I mean, please, it's not that hard. Is this their passive / aggressive way of telling us they do not appreciate having to work around the fact that we have remained in the house during the entire renovation / addition?

i think the concept of 'holiday cards' coming out after the holidays is a fine idea. don't stop now, send them in Jan (or Feb) and make it your new tradition!
i hate messy subcontractors too. Have only met one who cleaned up after themselves....i don't get it!
Sigh. My holiday cards are only 75% done. I think they are going to Valentines stickers slapped over the Happy New Year. The background was red so it works!
Sort of.
Thanks for your comment today. After the day(s) we had, I appreciate it.
Isn't that what subcontractors do?
Honestly, we haven't sent cards out in over 2 years. There are people that still don't know we've moved. Oops. I think anytime around Dec/Jan/Feb would be fine.
