Happy Thanksgiving
I want to give thanks for:
- My parents, who have fallen to terrible colds and are unable to make it to OK. I hope to see you in the next few weeks. Until then, take care of yourselves.
- My son, whose exuberance and energy make me smile and laugh and whose surprising sweetness melts my heart.
- My daughter, whose giggles lift my heart and whose limp sleeping body makes me want another baby.
- My husband, who is passionate and caring and responsible, despite appearances to the contrary.
- My brother and his family, who I rarely see, but remember often.
- My health. May I never take it for granted.
- My friends. I am rich with friendship and only hope I reciprocate all the love and caring I have received from people I know in life and in digital.
- Trees. As Laurie Berkner sings,
Can you imagine, can imagine living
Without trees?
Every time you shop one down,
One less tree grows in the ground
Think about tomorrow please
Can you imagine, can you imagine living
Without trees?
That’s where birds build their nests,
Where their babies eat and rest
Think about tomorrow please!
‘Cause if you take the trees away
You won’t have the chance to say
It’s so cool and shady here
Living things all have their space
I think that we could learn to share
Can you imagine, can you imagine living
Without trees?
Oxygen is what they give, that’s what
People need to live
Think about tomorrow please
Think about tomorrow please
What would we do without trees?
How could we live without trees?
