    Updates

Sorry it has been well over a week since I last posted. Things in my life have been hectic and crazy and I am not feeling so hot, so I will give a brief update on some things.

I have been battling sinus crap - whether an actual cold / flu or allergies, I am unsure - for going on four weeks. Last Tuesday night, I had piercing ear pain that kept me up throughout the night. I have not had this since I was a little girl and had ear infections so often that I had my tonsils removed. I remember my ear drums bursting and my ears would be caked with blood and goo. I am no longer experience excruciating pain, but the ear is a bit clogged. I started back on some allergy meds and I hope that clears it all up. If not, I am going in for an allergy shot. This year the allergies around here are terrible.

J has had hand, foot and mouth disease. Poor little thing. She was up for four hours in the middle of the night on Saturday and on Sunday. She appears to be much better now. She is not quite walking, but does cruise the furniture and looks like she is ready to let go and start walking at any moment. I bought her real shoes this week and they make her look like a toddler and not like a baby.

Nathan is doing well at school - greens on most days and a random yellow. Thank goodness! I was beginning to think I had a hooligan on my hands. His class does something once/week in which they give compliments to each other on little forms and they have to fill them in. He received one from his friend Jack that said N was being nice. At soccer practice last night, I heard that N gave one to another friend, John, that stated John played neat games and had a picture of them holding hands. John's dad thought it was awesome given that the boys in this class seem so macho.

The house. Well, it is coming along again, finally. The slate tile is in one room and is going in the kitchen today. My workout room is 95% complete and I have been using it. It rocks. The one downside to the house is that the gutters were installed on Monday and they are copper. I am not sure I like them. At all. I do not think the style of copper gutters is in keeping with the style of the house. In fact, I thought we had agreed to go with traditional gutters and paint them black. Instead, they are copper with collection boxes and are not on the edge of the house. I think it breaks up the style of the outside and I really dislike them. Do you know how expensive copper gutters are??? AGH. I do not want to have this conversation with W, but I do clearly recall discussing that he had opted against the copper.

That leads me to W. Things are good with us, but we are both battling allergies, work, running from A to B to C and even to Z sometimes. So there is not much time for us to actually talk between ourselves.

I am training for a 1/2 marathon in Denver on October 14. Things are going relatively well for training, but I do need to get a few more 10+ mile runs under my belt before I feel entirely confident about running it. Thankfully, Anne and Gretchen will be there with Aimee and family cheering from the sidelines! After that, the Tulsa Run 15K race is October 27 and the Route 66 Half Marathon is in November. I am not even contemplating a full marathon at this time. Frankly, the commitment is overwhelming and not something I feel like I can assume right now.

There are so many good, thought-provoking posts in my head! I just need to focus and get them to a point where I can write about them.

The good news about the copper gutters is that they'll be nice shade of dark brown in a few months. We have copper window awnings and gutters on the bank building. They have a nice patina and I bet yours won't be as noticable as you think.
