Weekend Recap
So much happening this past weekend.
Friday night, N's school celebrated its 25th anniversary and had a celebration for the students and parents. It was a lot of fun. Nathan has no inhibitions, it seems, to act as goofy and silly as he possibly can in front of anyone who is present.
Saturday, I decluttered the house from all the various Christmas decorations. I typically do this on New Year's Day, but we were not in any shape to do that this year, so I opted to wait one more week. By Friday last week, I was quite weary of the decor and more than ready to take it all down. I tried to do some laundry interspersed and hubby went and selected all the appliance (pending my final approval) for quote. I squeezed in a 7 mi run, then we headed to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. To my delight, N wanted to play with me, not his classmates / friends. I had a blast with him.
Sunday, hubby covered the kids while I ventured outside for my 16 mi long run. And I did it. I actually did it! I was so darn happy about that. I needed to take a pit stop about half way through it and at that point, it was either head home for that or head to the nearest clean public restroom. I chose Borders. I hope they don't mind. Then I ran the rest of my run. I ran miled 13 and 14 along the Arkansas River, which is marked, and noted I was clocking in at 9:10 min/ mi at that point. I am a very regular tempo runner, so I think it is safe to say that was close to my average speed throughout. After that, we headed out to meet my friend Anne and her twin boys to go swimming. It was quite fun and we do not see each other often enough.
Our neighbors to the north demolished their garage this past weekend, so we are eager to see what they have planned for the space.
Today, I start my second class for the masters in finance degree - it is Risk Management. It may very well be the toughest course in the curriculum, but also the most interesting. It is taught by the same professor I had this past summer, so I am comfortable with his teaching style and his reliance on spreadsheets.

Congrats on the run, I just can't fathom running that far. Good luck with your class this semester, hope it isn't too tough and you can find ways to apply what you learn--it makes it feel so much more worth the pain.
Way to go! There's nothing that says you can't take a water, walk, or potty break during long (or short) runs. You are awesome!
How was the class? I am so impressed that you are back in the saddle with it so soon after J. You are amazing.
