Friday Renovation Round Up - Week 1
Some friends have asked for a Friday review of progress on the house. Well, it is really week 1. The dumpster and port-a-john have been set, but the snow and ice from last week did not melt until Wednesday afternoon and then it was too damn cold here for the demo crew to start work on Thurs or Fri. So they are scheduled to start on Monday. A few trees & bushes have been cut down, but the big, old, pecan tree will be cut next week. It makes me sad, but it does need to go. We need to go shopping for new appliances very soon - yippee!
Top 5 exciting things for the renovation:
1. Washer / dryer will be on the 2nd level, same as the bedrooms. No more hauling heavy loads of dirty clothes down to the basement. It also means no more excuses for not moving the wet, clean clothes to the dryer.
2. Automatic ice maker in new refrigerator - wait, there's more! Not only will it be automatic ice, the ice will be available in the door of the refrigerator, accompanied by cold water! Who knew such things existed?
3. No more bundling up in layers during the winter and feeling the cold air drafts as I pass by the windows. Woo hoo!
4. Closet / storage space - in the family room, in the kids' rooms, in the master bedroom, in the kitchen. The house was built in 1917, so you can just imagine how little storage there is.
5. Privacy for the main floor powder room. The current, teeny tiny 1/2 bath on the main floor is not private in any way. Anytime someone uses that bathroom, assuming the guest has somehow squeezed into the bathroom, everyone else hears exactly what is being done in there. It's truly awful. This will become the pantry for the kitchen and a new powder room will be built.
Oh, the list could go on and on. But I better stop right there.

How exciting! I really and truly think it helped my marriage when Mr. W. and I finally had enough closet space.
Yes, very exciting!
Can't wait to hear more and see pictures!

Good luck with the renovations. I can't wait to see pics.
Woo hoo! Glad y'all are finally getting started! Can't wait to hear more and see pictures.
I am SO STOKED!
That's awesome, Joansy!!! No ironing!!! Not like I do anyway, but it eliminates that guilt, too.
Very, very exciting! I can't tell you what a huge difference the 2nd floor laundry has made for us--I actually feel like I can stay on top of the laundry. And for those rare middle of the night accidents nothing like dropping the sheets in the wash on the way back to bed!
