Hump Day
J is seven weeks old today. I cannot believe it. She has been bathed, lathered with cream and is ready to eat. After that, I need to work out, shower, pump, then head into work. She does remarkably well in the office. I have a little pallet for her next to my desk. I can usually work for about 2 hr at at a time, then need to change her diaper, feed her, burp her and then I am good for another 2 hrs of work.
I am paranoid that she will cry a lot and when she does, I whisk her into my FIL's office, close the door and try to soothe her. I am mostly paranoid when the guy on the other side of my cube wall is there. He has two small children at home - 2.5 yr old and a 5 mo old - but my logic is he does not want to hear a crying baby at work.
I often wonder what the people at work really think - are they impressed that I returned to work so soon and bring the baby in with me or are they annoyed because she is such a distraction or presents the potential to be a distraction for not just me, but everyone in the office. KWIM? Just curious.
I had a Therapetics meeting last night after Son's soccer practice. I have not attended a board meeting since May. I brought both kids & they were great. It is strange how confident I am with baby #2 than I was with #1. I think most moms are. Not sure about the dads, though. Hubby finally changed J's diaper for the very first time this past Saturday. I left the house for 45 min to run, thinking I had at least 75 min before she would need anything but being held. Apparently I was gone no less than 15 min when she started crying, Hubby changed the wet diaper, then she let go with a dirty diaper. He changed her again and fed her. When I returned, she was crying and I grabbed her and burped her - asked Hubby if he had done that yet. He said no, he thought he was doing well to have changed her twice, fed her and paid attention to Son. It was good, but I wondered if he realized I do this all the time and it is no great feat? But, I did not want to demean what he did do, so I concurred.
