As I sit here at 4 a.m.
Having just fed baby J, slept maybe 3 hr total this past night, baby J is splayed across my lap and is attempting to fall asleep. The girl has her hours mixed up. She sleeps well during the day and is a night owl. Of course, all babies do this, I fear. So some random updates / thoughts are in order.
Husband's Soccer Team
The over 30 league is highly competitive - even the B leagues. Lots of testosterone on the field, let me tell you. Hubby's team has lost both games so far, but they looked and played better the 2nd week than the first. It's all about continuous improvement, right? They are having fun. I took the kids home after the game while Hubby shared some beers with the guys.
Sleepover
We hosted our first overnight playdate this past weekend. Son's friend Myles spent the night and they did well. Son had spent the night at Myles' house about a month ago and it was our turn. Myles' parents do not have any family in town and they have been passing some illness back and forth amongst themselves for some time now. They needed some rest. The boys had a great time and it was a lot easier than expected.
Running and Post-Partum Update
Nearly 4 wks post-partum. My running is going well, but I am having difficulty finding more than 40-45 min to run each day, so my runs are short right now. I also find my stamina not quite up to snuff. Longest run to date is 4.5 mi with a 0.5 mi walk. However, if I only have 30 min, I am making it a speed day and running fast. I visit the doctor Oct. 19 and cannot wait to get the all clear to have sex. I am tempted to jump the gun and go for it this weekend, when Hubby returns from San Antonio.
Baby J is Greedy
She is a greedy little girl and can down 3.5 oz in one sitting, no problem. She had a 3 wk visit last week and had gained a full pound and one inch in two weeks. She is up to 6 lb 11.5 oz, 19.75 in long. Her due date was Oct. 8, so she is doing very well. She is starting to fill out, no longer in preemie clothes.
Son's 5th Bday
Son's 5th bday is Oct. 10. I am a bit late in contacting Pump It Up and no suitable weekend times are available over the next 2-3 weeks, so I have tentatively reserved a Thurs evening from 5-7. Will we have a low showing given it's a weekday? I am full of angst over this and may contact some rental inflatable companies tomorrow to see what they would charge. I am not really up to hosting at our house right now, but am sure I could pull it together and do so if need be. Pump It Up is just too darn easy, though.
Son's First Race!
About 2 wks ago, Son and I ran a 1 mile fun run together. I was nearly in tears - I had dreamed of doing this for so long and it finally happened. We ran the race together, holding hands most of the way. The finish line was at the TU track and I let his hand go while we raced down two separate lanes to the finish line. Time of 12:45 - not bad for a child! There is a zoo run this weekend and the fun run is entirely within the zoo boundaries. I hope to sign us up for the 1 mi fun run and I would like to run the 5k or 10k. Given I have only run 4.5 mi as the longest run since having baby J, I may opt for the 5k, but I could really stretch / test myself with the 10k. WWYD?
Okay. I may try to head back to sleep. If not, I may take advantage of the time and jump on the treadmill.

I was right here with you at 4 am, with the boy who doesn't need to sleep. It won't go on forever right?
I am truly amazed at you though, running, working, and of all things, wanting to have $ex already?!
lots of thoughts swirling so early in the morning! glad to catch up on you.
