To the best of your abilities

I finished the case. It is not my best work. I did not even complete the pro-formas, just the income statement and 1/2 of a cash flow statement. There is a point in time at which one must say that any further time spent on something is offset by the lack of doing something else. In this specific case, it is not doing my work and not spending time with my son, in reverse order.

Our company is converting to a sub-chapter S corporation from a C corporation. This means no double taxation on dividends. But the election was to be mailed yesterday, the 14th of June. I thought today was the 14th. I realized on my way to work that I was incorrect and needed to call our accountants asap. Thank the goddess that it seems the IRS is flexible on some things. They did not seem to think it would be a big deal to be one day late. I hand delivered it to the post office. Keep your fingers crossed. It would be a f-up of major proportions if I missed the deadline.

My son is coming to the office to see me in a few minutes. He has soccer camp from 10 - noon. MIL is taking him, but since he spent the night with them, he has missed me. I missed him, too. Although I did get in a nice 5 mi run this morning. I have scheduled a playdate with him for tomorrow morning, then soccer camp, then have my ob appt. I will take the morning off. And maybe the afternoon, too.

Sometimes your best work is the work you don't do.
