Beware Wire Coat Hangers
Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early, hubby and son were up, so I went for my run a tad earlier than has been the custom for the past 6 wks. It was a lovely 55 degrees outside, clear sky, so I knew I would have a nice run in the neighborhoods. I have the same route for the first 2.25 mi, then turn left, right or go straight depending on how far I want to run. That morning, I thought, "let's do a 7 miler" as I had not had the time or the inclination to run further than 6 mi in several weeks. I made the call and took the turn that would extend the run. This entails running on someone's side yard next to a 4 lane street for about 1/10 of a mile. There has been some construction along this road, but it had been completed about a week ago.
So I am running along, somewhat watching the ground to avoid twisting my ankle, when I step inside a wire coat hanger that had been stretched into a circle. I fall on my knees, catch myself with my hands. Note: at about 7 months pregnant with son, I had fallen while running along a downhill portion of a street that had some small loose gravel. I attribute that fall to the gravel. But it was only 2 wks later that I called a stop to the running and took up walking. I had hit my pregnant belly when I fell.
Fortunately, nobody saw me, I did not hit my belly and I realized everything was okay. I was only 19 wks pg, not 32. I had several more weeks before the belly would protrude enough to actually hit the ground if I fell. But it sort of scared me. I realize I am starting to become a tad bit clumsy and underestimate the size of my growing torso.
When I walked in the house, my son asked me why my knees were bloody. I had not even realized in the past 40 minutes that blood was streaming down my legs. What I sight I must have been! Lucky for me it was still early and few people were out and about.
Next time I run outside, probably on Saturday, I will look for wire coat hangers.

OMG.
I gasped as I read this. and then to see your knees are skinned.....Please be gentle with yourself for a few days...... HUGS
Holy cow! I'm glad you're okay...falls like that are scary. I fell twice when pregnant with Monkey Man, the second one I almost landed on the hood of my car belly-first. Not a fun feeling, especially when you realize how the size of your belly sneaks up on you so suddenly...
Glad you and the peanut are fine!
Ouchie, ouchie! So glad you're okay. Tell me you carry a cellphone while running, and I won't worry for you so much.
